IT’S THAT SIMPLE

IT’S THAT SIMPLE

The law professor was trying to teach his students a lesson and ask, “If you were going to give someone an orange, how would you go about it?”  The student replied, “Here’s an orange.”  The professor was livid.  “No, you must think like a lawyer!”

Another student thought he would give it a try.  “Okay, I would say that I hereby give and convey all and singular, my estate and interests, rights, claim, title, claim and advantage of and in, said orange, together with all its rind, juice, pulp, and seeds, and all rights and advantages with full power to bite, cut, freeze and otherwise eat, the same, or give the same away with and without the pulp, juice, rind and seeds, anything herein before or hereinafter or in any deed, or deeds, instruments of whatever nature or kind whatsoever to the contrary in anywise notwithstanding…”

Aren’t you glad that our salvation is simple.  It really is!  However, I believe that some have forgotten just how simple it is.  In Acts 16, the Philippian jailor ask, “What must I do to be saved?”  The Apostle Paul responded, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved — you and your household” (NIV).  Just simply ask forgiveness and believe on the Lord and we are saved.  It doesn’t matter if you are a child or a rocket scientist.  It’s that simple.

God simply says, “I love you.”  There are no “ifs,” “ands,” “buts.”  It’s simple and to the point.  He doesn’t qualify His love for us with a lot of “legal-ese.”  God wants everyone to know how much He loves us.  I believe that’s why God provided our salvation.  He knew us too well.  He knew we would try to complicate it with all kinds of things to do and say.

God’s plan of salvation is simple.  His path to forgiveness is easy to understand.  God meets each of us, with our various capacities to understand, at our level so that He can convey His intense love for us and His desire for us to spend all eternity with Him.  It’s that simple.

That’s my view of things.
